If you’ve ever stood on the glass floor of The Edge, 100 stories above the pavement, you know that specific New York feeling: a mix of vertigo and total invincibility. It is sharp, modern, and unapologetically asymmetrical. When we began sketching the 30H Asymmetrical Bag, we didn’t look at other handbags for inspiration. We looked at the skyline.
The Skeleton of the 30H
The New York skyline is a masterclass in geometry, but it's the steel that makes it possible. We wanted to capture that "cutting-edge" energy in a physical object, using hardware as our primary language.
-
The Spikes & Studs: These are the rivets of our armor. We positioned these aggressive accents to mimic the defiant lines of Hudson Yards, catching the light like the sun hitting a skyscraper.
-
The 10th Ave Curb Chain: This oversized chain is the suspension cable of the design. It provides a heavy, industrial contrast to the organic, soft grain of our Bio Pineapple Leather.
Industrial Grit Meets Organic Soul
Designing with Bio Pineapple Leather gave us the "skin," but the hardware gave us the "bone." It’s that tension between the organic plant-based material and the heavy, industrial metal that makes a PMPNY piece feel alive. Every stud and every link is a statement of strength. It’s architecture you can actually wear.
Styling the Steel
Luxury usually tries to be quiet, but we wanted to be felt. When your bag is built with industrial weight and architectural angles, the styling should be just as intentional.
-
The Monochrome Anchor: I always style the 30H Asymmetrical against an all-black (Obsidian) look. Whether it’s a sharp wool overcoat or an oversized leather jacket, the monochrome palette lets the gold hardware "Steel" become the protagonist of the outfit.
-
The Contrast of Textures: There is a specific magic in pairing the matte grain of our Bio Pineapple Leather with high-polish 10th Ave Curb Chains. It’s the organic meeting the industrial, a look that feels as ready for a SoHo gallery as it does for a midnight walk through Hudson Yards.
-
Strength in the Hardware: Don't be afraid of the spikes. They aren't just accents; they are the silhouette. Wear the bag high and across the chest to let the metal rivets frame your movement.
The PMPNY Friday Five
Five inspirations for a structural weekend.
-
The Track: "Perpetual Motion" by Max Cooper. Minimalist, structural, and built on the concept of infinite growth—exactly like our skyline.
-
The Texture: High-polish gold hardware against the raw grain of pineapple fiber.
-
The Taste: A Cortado from Blue Bottle at Hudson Yards. Sharp, precise, and essential for a design walk.
-
The Thought: "There are 360 degrees, so why stick to one?" — Zaha Hadid.
-
The Piece: The 30H Asymmetrical Chain Bag in Obsidian. The ultimate structural anchor for your winter look.
